Why is today’s preaching of the gospel more like white bread than brown?

because its easier to swallow. Unfortunately it is not as healthy or nutritious.

Love your enemies.

Have you noticed how many of our films today involve fighting inhuman monsters. Even in a film like “Star Wars” the enemy are  mostly faceless suits of armour. There are people in those suits.

When we make our enemies and people we dislike, less than human ,it makes them easier to hate or ignore.

When we look at them as people like us, misguided and obnoxious they may be, we can see that ” but by the grace of God, go I”.

Take another look at the bad guys. Are they beyond repentance? Is there no hope of mercy for them? Does Christ only seek the lost who are near at hand?

Loving the unlovely is the toughest part of Christianity, but most necessary today.

######################################################

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1Thessalonians 5:21

Discrimination may be a dirty word now. In Christian things it is still necessary. How much we have swallowed on simple trust ,which later proved to be false ?

How much error does the Roman Catholic believe because the Roman church says to? How many cults start from seemingly christian beginnings ? False doctrines are taught, revelations are made and the straight and narrow path is left.

If we believe the scriptures are our rule of life we must engage our minds to apply them to what we see and hear. We need to pray for guidance and protection when our own resources fall short.

This age in the Church is a age of feeling. If it feels right and good we take it on board. This is not always enough. We need to think about what we believe and why we believe it. Measuring all by the rule of God’s Word.
