Our Grandmothers and great grandmothers to facilitate whitening used a bluing bag , It is ironic that so contrary a colour should have such an effect.
The Bible has a lot to say about washing and cleansing. Most famously the verse from
Isaiah 1:18King James Version (K.J.V.)
18″ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”. As long as we sin we need that cleansing.
It is the Blood of Christ which cleanses us from all sin.
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Get on with it
“Do’nt tell me of tomorrow ,give me the man who’ll say, when any good deeds to be done , lets do the thing today.” The Salt Cellars” C.H. Spurgeon
At our best in the worst
Such was the esteem held for Thomas Manton and his’ Christianity that when he was imprisoned for non conformity, his’ prison keeper Lady Broughton,( yes thats right) when she left the prison left the keys with him.
Like Joseph the Christian should be seen at his’ best at the worst of times. He was sold in to Potiphar’s house as a slave but such was his’ conscientious attention to duty and honesty that he soon ran the entire household. The fact that the Lord was with him took him out of the ordinary. Even though he was falsely accused and thrown in prison, it was not long before he was running that . From trial and tribulation Joseph was brought to the second most powerful position in Egypt. But all of this was less than nothing compared to fact he was the God appointed means to save his’ family , the chosen people.
What sort of people ought Christians to be? What sort of employees, citizens, husbands, wives and children, etc.?
What should be the hallmark of our speech, behaviour
While Joseph is a good example to follow, Jesus Christ is the great example to follow.
“Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His’ grace;Behind a frowning providence he hides a smiling face”.
“Ye fearful saints fresh courage take, the clouds ye so much dread, are big with mercies and will break with blessings on thy head”.
